Joining the rainbowtrekkers
FAQ regarding the admission process
Following is a list of questions and answers describing our admission process. If you want to register your child with the rainbowtrekkers, please also check the following information.
If you’d like to submit a place request for your child, please regard the following: instructions.
Is there still room available at rainbowtrekkers?
Currently, there are no vacancies.
When will you be able to tell me whether there are free places available?
The opening of a free place depends on various criteria, such as your own need for when to send your child to day care and the constellation within the rainbowtrekkers group itself.
There is always the possibility that space will open up during the year due to parents moving out of town.
How high is the care fee at rainbowtrekkers?
You will be asked to pay a nominal tuition fee and an additional payment covering food expenses directly to our institution.
Furthermore, we ask you to support us through the “Förderverein”. You can find more information about the costs here.
What are the opening hours?
Our centers are open from Monday to Friday: 8:00 to 17:00 hrs. You purchase a budget of 45 hours of caregiving per week.
Children of shift workers and all other early risers are welcome in the mornings even from 7:30 a.m. until further notice.
What about holidays?
Our centers are open almost throughout the year with only 29 closing days distributed mainly over a three week period during the summer school holidays in Northrhine Westphalia and one to two weeks around Christmas/New Year and some long weekends.
Can we make an appointment to see the facilities of rainbowtrekkers?
In order not to interfere with the day-to-day activities on the group, we are currently not conducting any visiting appointments during regular opening hours. However, you are welcome to send us a place request.
If we have a vacancy that matches your search criteria, we will contact you.
Why hasn’t rainbowtrekkers been in touch with me?
As we receive many enquiries weekly, personal contact in this case would unfortunately exceed our available resources. Also for this reason, we are unable to provide information regarding the state of your application – neither per telephone, answering machine nor in person at the kindergarten.
This is not intended negatively; we simply do not have the time available.
What happens now?
Your data is automatically saved in our enquiries database. When it is indicated that a definite place for your child is available on a specific date, we will contact you and invite you to a personal getting-to-know-you meeting.
When will there be planning certainty?
The availability of places is directly related to whether the age and gender of your child fits into one of our groups. As a general rule, we want to have the planning of places for the following kindergarten year, beginning in August, completed by October of the current year.
However, due to children leaving and new children starting during the kindergarten year, available places can also change at short notice.
When can I visit one of your kindergartens?
If we contact you and you are still interested in a place in our kindergarten, we will invite you to a personal meeting in one of our kindergartens.
Please understand that, due to time restrictions, we are unable to undertake personal discussions and cannot answer queries while we are not able to offer a certain place.
What are the selection criteria at rainbowtrekkers?
The enquiries are greater than the places available. That is why we decide (understandable for all parents) using the following criteria (ordered by importance):
- The child’s sibling(s) already attend(s) the kindergarten.
- The child’s age fits into the potential group.
- The child would contribute to a well-balanced mix of gender in the group.
- The parents reflect the values and the pedagogical concept of the kindergarten and declare themselves ready for an educational partnership.
- The admission of the child contributes to a balance of social and cultural diversity.
- The family is new in the city and without a support network.
