Supply shortage of hand disinfectants and behavioural guidelines in times of corona
Due to current developments, we are facing a problem with the supply of hand disinfectants in our kindergartens. At the moment our storage rooms are still full, but when we wanted to order new stocks on Friday, none of our major suppliers were able to deliver. We also couldn’t find disinfectants left in supermarkets and pharmacies. In particular the large bulk containers (250/500/1000/5000 ml) of Sterilium which we need are no longer available.
Regardless of the current corona risk, we need hand disinfectants in the day-to-day operation of our kindergartens in the nappy changing and sanitary areas. Since small containers of 50-75 ml seem to be occasionally still available on the internet, but the maximum order quantities are already rationed, we would like to ask you to provide us with small containers of hand disinfectants for the educators on the group of your child. Please check whether you can get hold of 2-3 small containers per child during the week to come. If you a parent of an U3 child, you can deposit these disinfectants in your child’s personal box in the nappy changing room. For older children who no longer have a personal box in the changing rooms, please deposit these disinfectants with the educational staff.
If you can get hold of large Sterilium containers and would like to help us out, we would be happy to receive appropriate donations. We can issue a tax-effective donation receipt if you submit the purchase receipt to us together with your donation.
I would like to point out that this call is of precautious nature only. We still have disinfectants in our stocks, but it is unclear how long these stocks will last due to the existing supply shortage.
In your own interest, please pay attention to regular hand hygiene, even if you come home from the kindergarten (as it generally should be the case coming home from public spaces). Inside our kindergartens we do the same. I once again instructed our educational staff today to make sure that all the children in their group wash their hands with soap when they arrive in the morning and after each toilet and nappy changing session throughout the day.
Our employees are instructed to wash their hands with soap and apply disinfectant after each toilet / nappy changing cycle. We recommend the same to parents and any visitor at our facilities.
When you drop off or pick up your child, please first visit our sanitary areas to wash your hands or disinfect your hands when you enter the building with a disinfectant you have brought with you. We are working on a solution to install public disinfectant dispensers in the entrance areas of our kindergartens. However, these dispenser devices are also affected by the delivery difficulties mentioned above.
Further information on hand hygiene can be found here: https://www.infektionsschutz.de/haendewaschen.html#c6354.
Please note that the management and kindergarten leadership do not know more about the virus and about any possible dangers than you do. There have been no special briefings by the authorities so far. That is why we are particularly dependent on your caution and on mutual consideration.
Finally, please note the following information:
- Children or employees who have returned from the following risk areas are not allowed to attend our kindergartens for the first 14 days after their return: Mainland China, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Japan or Italy. Regardless of whether symptoms of illness exist, these people should avoid unnecessary contact and, if possible, remain in home quarantine. If you or your children belong to this group, you will have to let me know by email.
- Children, parents, employees and visitors who have had personal contact (regardless of a trip) with a person who has been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus should contact their responsible public health department immediately and regardless of symptoms. In this case, too, attending kindergarten is not allowed!
Thank you very much for your cooperation.
